About
Hello my name is Mike Pilley. I started Bakersfield Computer in 2004 with the interest of providing in-house support and services. In 2005, I was approached by an IT service group based out of the Pacific Northwest which has provided me with more connections to local work and experience than I could ever imagine. Around that same time, I also completed the Kern County Network for Children Leadership Development Training Program.
The combination of both these major life learning experiences has allowed me to find a new focus of working in our community, and committing myself to bringing more technology to Kern County.
My current work is in social services. I am a GIS technician analyzing geographically-based child welfare data. In my second life, my current interests include how media is changing to independently created content, and creating map mashups using the Google Maps API. More recently, I was the geek-half of Stockcarzone, a weekly NASCAR podcast hosted by Corey Costelloe, for over two years.
As for past work experience, it includes a game evaluator for Capcom, Inc., and an IT manager of a mail order company based on live butterfly kits. For more specific skillsets, see the Services page.
